Modelling delaminations using adaptive cohesive segments with rotations in dynamic explicit analysis

چکیده

Multiple delamination planes can form when a composite structure is subjected to out-of-plane stresses during static over-loading or impact loading. Numerical modelling of such events often prohibitively expensive because large numbers cracks co-exist and interact, fracture models usually affect the time step size in explicit solutions. Here new method called Adaptive Mesh Segmentation proposed, which introduces segmentation ‘on-the-fly’ meshes quadratic finite elements with six degrees freedom per node, without any intervention from user reductions for solution stability. A novel cohesive formulation rotational introduced increases resolution numerical zone allows use relatively coarse meshes. Once critical stress criterion met, are added at element boundaries model strong discontinuities. moment–damage relationship proposed link discontinuity law translational by definition. initiating tractions moments minimal disturbances surrounding field also presented. Finally, applied analysis benchmarks using modest sizes. Considerable improvements accuracy observed compared conventional methods. • Modelling laminated composites adaptive segments. accurate analyses technique minimise errors associated initiation. loss continuity. Scale-Based Monotonicity Analysis in Qualitative Modelling with Flat Segments

Qualitative models are often more suitable than classical quantitative models in tasks such as Model-based Diagnosis (MBD), explaining system behavior, and designing novel devices from first principles. Monotonicity is an important feature to leverage when constructing qualitative models. Detecting monotonic pieces robustly and efficiently from sensor or simulation data remains an open problem....

Quasi-explicit time-integration schemes for dynamic fracture with set-valued cohesive zone models

We investigate quasi-explicit time-integration schemes for solving dynamic fracture problems with set-valued cohesive zone models. These schemes combine a central difference time-integration scheme and a partially implicit and lumped treatment of the cohesive forces. At each time step, the displacements of the nodes in the interior of the domain are computed in an explicit way, while the displa...

Dynamic Analysis of Planar Flexible Beams with Finite Rotations by Using Inertial and Rotating Frames

An efficient formulation for dynamic analysis of planar Timoshenko’s beam with finite rotations is presented. Both an inertial frame and a rotating frame are introduced to simplify computational manipulation. The kinetic energy of the system is obtained by using the inertial frame so that it takes a quadratic uncoupled form. The rotating frame together with the small strain assumption is employ...

Extending the Radar Dynamic Range using Adaptive Pulse Compression

The matched filter in the radar receiver is only adapted to the transmitted signal version and its output will be wasted due to non-matching with the received signal from the environment. The sidelobes amplitude of the matched filter output in pulse compression radars are dependent on the transmitted coded waveforms that extended as much as the length of the code on both sides of the target loc...
